Background: COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm and impacted adversely all the health services.
Aim: To evaluate the impact of covid-19 pandemic on obstetric and gynecological services and to evaluate impact on maternal and fetal outcomes. Materials and methods: This is a retrospective study. The data pertaining to services like OPD, IPD, number of surgeries etc. was compared (data of April 2019-September 2019 to data of April 2020 to September 2020). The data was entered in microsoft excel sheet and statistical analysis was done using unpaired t test.
Results: There was significant decline (p<0.05) in services like gynecology OPD and admissions, vaginal deliveries in 2020 during the specified time period. The difference was insignificant in follow-up obstetric OPD, cesarean sections, exploratory laparotomies for rupture uterus/ectopic, high risk admissions, maternal death ratio and fetal death rate.
Conclusion: Although the patient inflow had decreased because of nationwide lockdown, there was no difference in services offered at institute level.>)
