Abstract

Pertussis remains a major health problem in developed as well as developing countries. Mortality due to pertussis occur almost exclusively in the early infantile life i.e less than 3 months of age, with more than three fourth occurring at less than 2 months age. Maternalimmunization during the third trimester, immunization of other infant contacts, and reimmunization during subsequent pregnancies are few of the important strategies to prevent the disease in young infants
