Abstract

Incomplete or irregular mesonephric duct fusion results in a group of congenital abnormalities of uterus referred to as Müllerian duct anomalies. A 23-year-old married primipara presented with complaints of severe dysmenorrhea and vomiting, which on detailed evaluation and diagnostic tests was identified as a unicornuate uterus with a functioning non-communicating rudimentary horn and right-side agenesis of the kidney. Typically, surgical excision of functional, non-communicating, rudimentary horns is indicated in order to prevent complications including dysmenorrhea, hematometra, endometriosis, and ectopic pregnancy. Our team performed a laparoscopic excision of the frail horn. In an effort to raise awareness of an uncommon phenomenon, we report this case.
