Background: Postgraduate medical education in Obstetrics and Gynecology is largely unstructured in India. Despite the recommendation by Medical Council of India, most of the medical colleges have not been able to successfully implement a comprehensive teaching program for postgraduate trainees.
Aim: To discuss the Postgraduate teaching program and its response amongst trainees.
Methodology: This is an anonymized questionnaire based cross sectional study. The trainees were asked to comment on the different aspects of the program and give their feedback on areas which could be improved. Results: 63.8% trainees returned the questionnaires. Majority of them felt that this was a good effort towards improvement of postgraduate training. However many students felt that consultant teaching could be increased with more emphasis on the application of knowledge to common clinical conditions Institution of grievance committee found approval and most of the students were satisfied with administrative aspects of the program.
Conclusion: A structured training protocol in obstetrics and gynecology can be devised for postgraduate students despite hectic schedule of a medical college. It needs effort and commitment both on the part of faculty and students to ensure that the program achieves its aims and achieve success.
